Proven Success Strategies for Women at Work

Women are underrepresented in the C-suite. And women who aspire to leadership roles face unique challenges in today's companies. They are passed over for key opportunities, paid less than their male colleagues, and left out of critical networks and sponsor relationships. Additionally, smaller everyday challenges impede women's progress at work, like being interrupted in meetings, having their ideas stolen, or having to do 'invisible work' for no credit. Being a woman at work today requires a unique set of skills and strategies.

In this course, business consultants Deborah Kolb and Elizabeth Robillard help women learn these strategies so they can get the job they want, the pay they deserve, and the credit that counts. They provide guidance on how to identify challenges, negotiate for better opportunities and compensation, get helpful feedback, and create a network of support. In the course, they use scenarios of real women tacking these challenges and coming out ahead.

Registration Instructions for the MySLCC Employee Training Portal

Log into MySLCC.

Click on the Employee Tab.

Click on Register for Training on the lower right (scroll down).

Click on the blue Register for Training link on the top left.

Click on the Training/Department Drop-Down Menu, then click on Staff Development.

Click on the Course Drop-Down Menu, then click on the workshop you want to register for.

Click on Search.

Click on Details on the right. The workshop details will come up.

Click on Register in the box at the bottom. You are registered!

You will receive a confirmation email.

CE39 – General Budget Center Managers and Administrative Assistants Training

The Controller’s Office has scheduled a refresher and advanced financial responsibility training.   This

training is intended for Budget Center Managers (current and new) and Administrative Assistants, as well

as those who are more experienced who want to increase their understanding of Banner Finance screens,

reports, and other financial responsibilities.

Wednesday, February 2nd

Virtual Learning Session

10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

 

Prior to the workshop, you will receive a link to join the meeting.

Learning Objectives

-Utilizing and understanding Banner-Finance screens, reports, and querying information online.

-Downloading Banner data to an excel spreadsheet.

-Budget forms, including help with preparing new year yellow budget forms needed for soft-funded indexes.

-Difference between transfers and journal entry requests.

-Year-end budget questions.

-Brief review of financial policies &procedures (e.g. Travel reimbursements, contract review, receiving cash receipts, etc.)

-Question and Answer Period (one-on-one help).

Caregiver Workshops


The new year brings us a bit of challenge—a continuation of change and uncertainty. The “elephant in the room” is standing in the middle of most traditional caregiver bridges and there are no calendars or clocks that can tell us when the change will slow down. A caregiver will need to hone their bridge building skills, show their “unseen elephants” a little extra love, and find hope in the journey.

During the on-going pandemic, many people stepped back “to wait out the pandemic”. We stopped doing the pre-pandemic tasks, classes, and actions that helped us gain strength. It is time to stop waiting for the pandemic to end. Be safe, make good choices, but reinstate the actions that help you build strength now—even if these actions have to be applied in a new way. Re-evaluate what you gave up or start fresh, replacing actions that cannot be reinstated. Hope is found by doing.
