Thank You for Making Giving Day a Success

Dear SLCC Community,

I want to offer my deepest gratitude for your generosity during our first-ever Salt Lake Community College Giving Day. Over 194 people from the college and the community went “all in” and donated $242,652 toward student scholarships and SLCC programming. We are thankful to all who took part in this effort, and your support will allow us to fulfill our mission of providing exceptional education and training to all who are interested.

Many of your donations were matched by various college partners during Giving Day, including Mountain America Credit Union, University Federal Credit Union, and SLCC’s Board of Trustees, Executive Cabinet and Foundation Board. We are grateful for their participation as they helped to deepen the impact of your generosity and made a tremendous difference in what we can provide to our students.

Again, thank you for saying “I’m in” with SLCC. Every day, extraordinary things happen here as we fulfill our mission to model inclusive and transformative education. Your support helps students, their families, our community and, ultimately, our nation. Thank you for standing alongside us; together we will create a bright future for the thousands who learn and train at SLCC.

All the best,

Clear Air Challenge 2021

The Clear the Air Challenge is a month long competition that gives you the chance to reduce your vehicle emissions by choosing alternative methods of transportation using TravelWise strategies. By driving less and driving smarter, you will ultimately help improve air quality, reduce traffic congestion and conserve energy in Utah.

Last year’s participants collectively saved 84,421 trips; 1,244,624 miles; 359.8 tons of CO2 and $400,000 using strategies such as carpooling, using public transit, teleworking, trip chaining, using electric vehicles and walking or riding their bikes or scooters.

Tracking your miles is now easier than ever with the new Commute Tracker app by RideAmigos and integrations with Waze and Strava.

Register and track your efforts to TravelWise at: https://travelwisetracker.com/

The Salt Lake Community College has three different teams or subnetworks you can sign up for which are listed below.  You can follow the links to register for what team is most appropriate for you.

Join SLCC for Our First-ever Giving Day

 Dear SLCC Colleagues,

As announced during SLCC360 last week, we are excited to debut Salt Lake Community College’s first annual Giving Day, scheduled February 17–18. Giving Day is an event where the SLCC community unites with local charitable organizations, college trustees, regional partners, alumni and others to support college programs that help provide a bright future to our students and their families.

Our first Giving Day will span 1,948 minutes — in honor of the institution’s founding in 1948.  From 8 a.m. on February 17 to 4:28 p.m. on February 18, you are invited to be “all in” and donate to help make our bold vision for the future become reality. Funds raised will support scholarships and SLCC programs that enable us to provide an exceptional college experience for our students.

And at various times throughout our Giving Day event, donations will be matched by some of the college’s most ardent supporters and friends, including Mountain America Credit Union, University Federal Credit Union, and SLCC's Board of Trustees, Executive Cabinet and Foundation Board. This is a wonderful way to deepen the impact of your donation, and I encourage everyone to take advantage of this unique opportunity. A link to the Giving Day page can be found here

If you are unable to donate, you can still show your support by sharing Giving Day information and stories with your friends and followers on social media. We want to involve as many people as possible in this effort, and your help in spreading the news will make Giving Day a roaring success.

In case you missed it at SLCC 360, you can learn more about this unique event by checking out our Giving Day video:

I am honored to represent an institution that is an incredible force for good in our community, and I am privileged to work with each of you in helping our students find success and achieve their dreams. I can think of no better way to kick off a new year than by helping our students. Please join us by saying, “I’m in” for Giving Day.

Thanks for all you do to make SLCC an extraordinary place where countless lives are changed for the better each and every day.

Go Bruins!
