Leading Inclusive Teams

Learning objectives

·         Define “inclusion”.

·         Recall the negative impact of unconscious bias.

·         List five tips to help you keep an open mind.

·         Recognize the benefits of humility.

·         Identify the role of an ally.

·         Name two effective strategies used to collect feedback from a team.

 LinkedIn JEDI Collection Learning Course

Diversity: The Best Resource for Achieving Business Goals

“Diversity and inclusion” has become such a familiar phrase that it’s easy to lose sight of what it means. Workplaces that incorporate a wide range of human experience—across gender, culture, age, sexual preference, and other differences—are more adaptable and more innovative places to work than their more homogeneous competitors. Not surprisingly, they do better on recruitment, retention, productivity—basically any measure of success you can think of. This course explains how to improve your organizations diversity and inclusion by thoughtfully examining the challenges and opportunities they present. Learn how to support a diverse workforce through wise management, carefully structured conversations, and a culture designed to celebrate the unique value of each team member.

All employees can utilize LinkedIn Learning: SLCC Learn.

Meditative Pause at SLCC

Join SLCC faculty Heidi O’Donoghue and Andrea Malouf each week for Meditative Pause for People in Higher Education. Each week we will take a break from doing and problem-solving to come together for ½ hour sessions to connect, relax and center via web-ex. We’ll explore breathing and relaxation techniques, as well as best practices for mindful communication and well-being. Each session will include a very brief introduction to the weekly topic, a guided meditation and then a short group reflection.

No prior experience or registration required. Just join when you can. If you’d like to receive weekly web-ex reminders, please send your email and your department name to Andrea (andrea.malouf@slcc.edu) or Heidi (heidi.o’donoghue@slcc.edu). Or just email with questions.

Spring Session 2021: 1–1:30 p.m. Tuesdays through April 28, 2021.
