Leading When You Are Not in Charge

30 mins

Audio Course

Have you ever looked at your work situation and thought about how things might be different if you were the one in charge? In reality, it’s possible to lead from a spot of influence rather than a position of authority. In this audio-only course, Pete Mockaitis speaks with Clay Scroggins, author of How to Lead When You’re Not in Charge, about how to lead without being in the top position. Clay speaks about the lessons learned from his own experiences, and how powerful leadership begins with leading yourself well. He details important questions to ask your team that can enhance and improve the way you collaborate, and offers helpful advice on topics like making time for reflection, how to show your boss that you care, and focusing on the authority you do have.

Rolling Out a DIBs Training Program in Your Company (New May 2020)

Learn how to roll out a diversity, inclusion, and belonging (DIBs) program tailored to your company's unique needs. Dereca Blackmon, CEO of Inclusion Design, can help. In this course, she helps you understand exactly what your organization needs by asking the right questions and identifying the right partners and champions for your program. She explains how to develop buy-in by making the case for DIBs with senior leaders and employees alike, and solicit and incorporate feedback from participants. Then Dereca explains how to promote your program and keep the momentum going strong with employee- and leadership-led content. Finally, discover how to set expectations regarding the outcomes of your training program and evaluate its success.

Caregiver Workshops

The new year brings us a bit of challenge—a continuation of change and uncertainty. The “elephant in the room” is standing in the middle of most traditional caregiver bridges and there are no calendars or clocks that can tell us when the change will slow down. A caregiver will need to hone their bridge building skills, show their “unseen elephants” a little extra love, and find hope in the journey.

During the on-going pandemic, many people stepped back “to wait out the pandemic”. We stopped doing the pre-pandemic tasks, classes, and actions that helped us gain strength. It is time to stop waiting for the pandemic to end. Be safe, make good choices, but reinstate the actions that help you build strength now—even if these actions have to be applied in a new way. Re-evaluate what you gave up or start fresh, replacing actions that cannot be reinstated. Hope is found by doing.

Read how-to recommendations in the
January Caregiver News.
