Research demonstrates that when faculty hold high expectations for students, they will perform to these expectations. In this workshop we will discuss the concept of rigor in academia and its connection to inclusivity in the classroom. Through self-reflection and dialogue with colleagues, we will explore our perceptions of rigor and inclusivity, and how we can empower all our students in their learning

Transparency in Assignments (FO17)

4:30-5:30pm

Join this hands-on workshop to explore and reflect upon transparency in your assignments. Learn how to develop transparency for students or share and troubleshoot how your efforts in transparency have unfolded.

Stories of Transformation: SLCC Symposium on Equity and Inclusion
Fri, April 1, 2022

8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Student Event Center, Taylorsville Campus
Hybrid

This symposium is designed for SLCC students, faculty, staff, and administrators to share their experiences related to justice, equity diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) in the classroom, on campus, and in the community through storytelling. We continue to navigate the challenges and inequities in higher education and in our daily lived experiences, which have been further exposed by the Covid pandemic. Our hope is that the symposium will be a space to share our stories of transformation from inequity to equity, from exclusion to inclusion, from loss to growth, and from disconnection to belonging. Through our stories, we hope that participants will come away with stronger relationships, new ideas for JEDI work, and inspiration to take action towards creating a welcoming and inclusive working, teaching, and learning environment for everyone at SLCC. All in the community are welcome to attend. https://forms.office.com/r/1g5MM5ZQKD
Adjunct faculty will also need to register for this event in the SLCC Registration System, FC82 Equity Symposium—Adjunct.  This will ensure adjunct compensation for attending this event.”
