The world of data science is reshaping every business. There is no better time to learn it than now. In this Madecraft course, Python trainer and data scientist Lavanya Vijayan shares what data science is and how it differs from other information-focused disciplines. She then dives into the workflow—the life cycle of data science—and introduces the data scientist’s toolset, from programming languages and specialized libraries to productivity tools like Jupyter Notebooks. In the following chapters, Lavanya focuses on practical techniques such as exploratory data analysis, data cleaning, and data visualization.

The Women Transforming Tech series is focused on helping women interested in working in and staying in the tech industry. It provides authentic, hard-won advice from leading women in tech, such as best-selling author and tech executive Rashim Mogha, venture capitalist Megan Holston-Alexander, and educator and developer Nitya Narasimhan. This roundtable discussion captures authentic conversation between these industry experts. They focus on topics affecting women in technology, including navigating the hiring process, belonging, being an authentic leader, making an impact, and building confidence.

CW14 – Creating Your Professional Portfolio for Staff (Fall)
This workshop will help you create your professional portfolio as a staff member in new
Digication. We will be focusing on collecting and organizing evidence, writing narratives, and
helping you showcase yourself as a reflective practitioner in higher education. You will finish
the workshop with a great start to your own professional portfolio. You can follow up with
individual consultations from WAC or the ePortfolio Office.

CW04 – Improving Writing--Grammarphobia This workshop will help you reduce anxiety about grammar and correctness. Such anxiety can, ironically, get in the way of producing effective writing. Participants will face their fears of being wrong, will learn that they are better at grammar than they think they are, and will learn strategies to write through their worries instead of being hindered by them. |

Employee Wellness
There are many ways to engage with the Employee Wellness Program as an employee. Starting November 1 , the personal training program will be starting another round of personal training for the 21-22 fiscal year.
- The personal training program will run November 1 – February 22 (Intake form opens up October 18).
- The personal training program offers 16 weeks of free, 1-hour personal training for full-time employees plus a monetary incentive for all those who complete the program.
- For those who are new to the program or are curious about whether it is right for you, there is a 17-minute introduction video to explain the program.
- The aim of this introduction video is to:
- Explain the functionality of the program
- Participant selection process
- Expectations of Personal Trainers
- Expectations of Clients
- Sign-up by completing the Block 2 Intake Form starting October 18.
- For more opportunities such as walking groups, drop-in yoga and group fitness, NDPP and more visit the Employee Wellness Website.
