Are you part of the assessment team in your department?

Creating Effective Assignments, Rubrics, and Assessments
March 16, 17, 18

Join the Student Learning Outcome and Assessment (SLOA) committee to learn how to design quality assignments, assessments and rubrics. This training will help prepare faculty for required assessments due by September 30, 2020 and will provide you with the prompts and tools needed to assess learning outcomes, including Critical Thinking.

Please come with your favorite assignment (assessed with scored evidence of the student’s critical thinking). If a written assignment, consider it be with minimum of three pages. If video assignment, it needs to provide enough information to assess critical thinking, or if a performance assignment, it has to elicit the student’s thinking in some way.

Several opportunities exist. Register via employee training for in-person sessions or online content.

Option 1: Participate in a self-directed online course in Canvas and analyze the connections between the CLSLO and your class using the assessment rubric to improve the alignment.

Option 2: Join an in-person, interactive workshop and dive into the CLSLO resources created while also devising strategies for curricular integration. Refreshments served. Facilitators: Dan Poole, Emily Putnam, Gabe Byers, Lucy Smith, Rosio Suarez, Mikaela Mokofisi

Needing better reflection prompts?

Developing Excellent Reflection Prompts
March 24

1:00-2:00pm; virtual

We want students to be reflective practitioners regardless of their major. What are the theoretical and practical underpinnings of deep reflective practice? This workshop will feature hands-on training in developing more effective reflection prompts and activities to help students better integrate reflection in their learning. Participants will finish the workshop with new or updated reflection prompts or activities for their courses and will write their own reflection for their professional ePortfolio.
