Skills for Inclusive Conversations

Organizations reap the benefits of diversity—when employees bring their whole, authentic selves to work. Diverse teams are more productive, innovative, and engaged. Authenticity at work includes sharing and speaking up about work and life experiences that may be different based on one’s identity. Developing the skills to conduct meaningful conversations on potentially polarizing topics such as race, religion, and gender is critical for human resources professionals, managers, and team leaders. Mary-Frances Winters offers a multistep process for building the skills necessary to engage in inclusive conversations. Find out how to conduct an exploratory self-assessment to better understand yourself and your team, learn tactics to go from polarization to common ground, and discover practical techniques for discussing difficult topics.

LinkedIn JEDI Collection Learning Course

Teaching Civility in the Workplace

Focusing on eradicating negative behaviors isn’t always enough to create a happy workplace. Employees and managers also need to learn what they should do to make their environment a respectful and pleasant one. In this course, join Catherine Mattice Zundel as she shares how to create a happier, healthier workplace by teaching civility and setting a good example with your own behavior. Learn about negative behavior as a social phenomenon, what micro-aggressions look like in action, and how to replace negative language with positive words. Plus, get tips for becoming a more active listener, standing up for yourself when you experience microaggressions and incivility, and coaching others.

Planning for Hybrid Organizations

We have learned that remote work is viable, but perhaps that isn’t your long-term future. If you also aren’t sure that bringing everyone back to the office is preferred, you are left to look at hybrid work models. Chances are that some type of hybrid work model is in your future—but what will it look like and how will you get there? In this course, instructor Kevin Eikenberry outlines six different hybrid work models and shows you how to determine which type of remote work model will be best for you. Kevin helps you determine how to build a plan that gains the acceptance and commitment of your organization.

Are you part of the assessment team in your department?
Creating Effective Assignments, Rubrics, and Assessments
March 18
Join the Student Learning Outcome and Assessment (SLOA) committee to learn how to design quality assignments, assessments and rubrics. This training will help prepare faculty for required assessments due by September 30, 2020 and will provide you with the prompts and tools needed to assess learning outcomes, including Critical Thinking.

Please come with your favorite assignment (assessed with scored evidence of the student’s critical thinking). If a written assignment, consider it be with minimum of three pages. If video assignment, it needs to provide enough information to assess critical thinking, or if a performance assignment, it has to elicit the student’s thinking in some way.

Are you interested in learning more about the MySuccess surveys that are sent to faculty?
