Foundations of Inclusive Teaching
This self-paced, online Canvas course introduces instructors to key concepts and principles for equitable and inclusive teaching. The course includes definitions, short readings, videos, reflective questions, teaching strategies, and other resources. Participants will complete a series of self-paced learning activities, record their teaching ideas in a notebook or teaching journal, and complete a formal reflection. Adjunct faculty will be compensated for 6 hours for this course. This course is always available for registration.
This online, facilitated Canvas course focuses on teaching practices that support learning and educational equity for community college students from diverse social, cultural, racial, linguistic, and educational backgrounds. Participants complete course development activities and work toward redesigning a course based on principles for effective, equitable, and inclusive teaching. Participants complete a short orientation and eight, 2-hour modules (one per week) with readings, videos, reflection questions, learning activities, and online discussions. Adjunct faculty are compensated 16 hours for this course. The course begins May 31 and runs through August 1. While faculty are encouraged to take the Foundations of Inclusive Teaching course first, it is not required. Contact Kristin.Morley@slcc.edu with questions.
Equity in Student Writing Learning Community

In this learning community, participants will learn how to create equitable writing instruction, assignment, and assessment practices for all SLCC students. Participants will complete a four-hour self-paced Canvas course and a one-hour scheduled learning community discussion. 5 hours total. Register for one, two, or all three learning community courses!

This course is for all faculty who want to teach fully online courses at SLCC. There are no on-campus meetings for this course. The course is taught asynchronously and in a fully online cohort so you can experience what it’s like to be an online student and learn research-based best practices and expectations of being an online instructor at SLCC. Broadcast Teacher Credential Course (DBTC)

This course is for faculty who want to teach broadcast-mode (live-streamed) courses at SLCC. There are no on-campus meetings for this course. The course is taught in a fully-online cohort that is both synchronous (live-streamed) and asynchronous so the participants can experience what it’s like to be a broadcast student and learn research-based best practices and expectations of being an broadcast instructor at SLCC. The course runs for five weeks, with assignments due each week. Adjunct faculty are compensated 12 hours for this course. PREREQUISITES: Before registering, you MUST already have competency in Canvas and Zoom, and you MUST have already completed the Online Teacher Credential course.
