Faculty Learning Community: JEDI in the Classroom

This Faculty Learning Community (FLC) is designed as an ongoing space for faculty to be in community with each other, develop trust for open dialogue, and discuss justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) issues in the classroom.

Creating an Inclusive Classroom Climate, Oct. 27. 2:30-4:30, TB225D-A; Hybrid 

Research shows us that when students feel a sense of belonging in class, their learning outcomes improve. In this workshop, faculty will discuss strategies for setting an inclusive and respectful tone as well as how to respond when challenging situations arise in the classroom.

Open Education Conference You’re invited to attend the Open Education Conference virtually. The Open Educational Resources (OER) Office has spots available for SLCC Faculty interested in or working with OER. This conference is one of the main OER Professional Development Opportunities available and a favorite among SLCC Faculty. The conference will be held October 18-22; live programming will take place between 10 am to 6 pm EDT, all sessions will be recorded and shared after. The Conference theme this year is “Making Open for All.”

OLC Accelerate 2021 Virtual Conference — Register under eLearning

The OLC Accelerate conference emphasizes research and effective practices in online, blended, and digital learning. SLCC’s eLearning team has purchased a group pass to the five-day conference, which is scheduled for September 20-24, 2021. Registrants are welcome to view any session from wherever they are as their schedule allows. Registrants also get access to recordings of all sessions, which will be available for one year after the conference. Adjunct instructors will not be compensated for this event Registration is required. Look for course code DOLC in SLCC’s training registration. After registering, registrants will receive instructions for accessing the conference sessions in a separate email.
