Join the Writing Across the College program for Journaling for Resilience, twice-weekly half-hour sessions of personal writing. In each session, you’ll find a selection of journaling prompts that will encourage you to explore how you are doing, what you need, or what you are grateful for. Drop in when you can; stay for as long as feels right to you.

Would you like help developing quality assignments?
Creating Effective Assignments, Rubrics, and Assessments
Multiple dates in Jan. & Feb (see dates in the list of events above)
Join the Student Learning Outcome and Assessment (SLOA) committee to learn how to design quality assignments, assessments and rubrics. This training will help prepare faculty for required assessments due by September 30, 2020 and will provide you with the prompts and tools needed to assess learning outcomes, including Critical Thinking.

Please come with your favorite assignment (assessed with scored evidence of the student’s critical thinking). If a written assignment, consider it be with minimum of three pages. If video assignment, it needs to provide enough information to assess critical thinking, or if a performance assignment, it has to elicit the student’s thinking in some way.

1st Annual International Lowrider Studies Conference

Please check out the schedule of the 1st Annual International Lowrider Studies Conference, Jan. 29, 2021, which is free and open to the public via Zoom. This conference will be recorded and facilitated by John Ulloa and Xris Macias. This conference is groundbreaking as it is the first conference EVER on lowrider studies in the world. We are making huge history right now! We will be building a lowrider studies journal and book series soon too!!

This conference is sponsored by Save the Kids, Utah Reintegration Project, Salt Lake Community College, Institute for Critical Animal Studies, University of Utah Dream Center, and Transformative Justice Journal. Open Education Network Virtual Campus Visit

Join us for the Open Education Network (OEN) Virtual Campus Visit. Salt Lake Community College partners with the Open Education Network to provide professional development workshops. During this workshop, faculty will have the opportunity to explore common OER textbook misconceptions, benefits OERs can bring to student learning, pedagogical practices and delve into the Open Textbook Library (OTL). Faculty interested in attending the virtual visit with AD approval are eligible to earn a $200 stipend after attending the workshop and completing an OTL Textbook review. This workshop is limited to 25 seats.- Additional registration information to come. Contact andrea.scott@slcc.edu to reserve your spot.

In this online, facilitated, self-paced course, you will learn to use the key features of Canvas. This 12-hour course is designed for all faculty, including full-time and adjunct instructors. The course is self-paced, so novice and experienced Canvas users can complete this course as quickly as possible. This course is facilitated by SLCC instructional technologists and instructional designers who are available to answer questions and provide feedback. Online Teacher Credential course

Course runs Feb. 8-Mar. 29, 2021
This course is a fully online, 6-week course. You will spend approximately 1-3 hours each week engaged in this course for a total of 16 hours. Adjunct instructors will be compensated for 16 hours.
This training is for all faculty who want to teach online at SLCC. Faculty should complete this training prior to teaching an online course. The course is taught in an online cohort so the participants can experience what it's like to be an online student and learn research-based best practices and expectations of being an online instructor at SLCC.
