Call for Artists: Request for Proposals

Application Deadline: March 22, 2021

Commission Budget: $1,000 plus supplies

Project Background: Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Gardens are here to teach our SLCC community about sustainable gardening practices and to empower them to grow their own fresh produce for both themselves and the SLCC community.

Eligibility: This call for art is open to all artists and/or artist-led teams residing in Utah regardless of race, creed, gender, gender variance, sexual orientation, national origin, age, religion, marital status, political opinion or affiliation, or mental or physical disability. Artists that have a connection to Salt Lake Community College are encouraged to apply.

Artwork goals: We seek art that celebrates human and ecological diversity, highlights gardening and food justice, and reflects the values of Salt Lake Community College.

Design criteria:
- SLCC student involvement in design and/or implementation
- Meets goals described above and fits on cinder block wall (approx. 20ft) in SLCC Redwood Garden

Selection Criteria:
*Please cover these topics in letter of interest or supplemental documents*
- One of a kind, meets design criteria
- Human and ecological diversity
- Student involvement
- Safety during installation

Application Requirements:
- Letter of interest (200-500 word) including contact information.
- Proposal draft, description, and supply cost estimate
